About Oriel Park
The home of Dundalk FC, Oriel Park, is the only ground in the country with an artificial pitch. Constructed in 1919, the ground has been hosting the Lilywhites for the best part of 86 years. The stadium has seen some of the greatest sides in Europe play on its pitch. Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic have played European ties in the ground (Liverpool the only one of the three to come away with a win). Irish u21 internationals and games in the European u16 Championships have also been hosted at 'The Home of Football'
In 2005, plans were made to change to an artificial surface, and construct a youth development centre with top class facilities at some cost. The ground is now one of, if not the best multi-sports centre in Co. Louth. The 2010 European Badminton Championships were also hosted in Oriel.

Away Fans
Away fans are usually housed on the left hand side of the main stand (Shown above) and also on the terrace to the left of the picture. The problem for away supporters at Oriel is that the fans tend to be separated between the two areas, and while the stand is cramped, it offers a better view than the terrace, as well as cover. The majority of away fans tend to choose the terrace if the weather is dry.
